Riddle Rhyme Giveaway

Poems can be used for any occasion, and I've been on a ryhme quest the last week or so. Therefore, I have written a rhyming riddle for you to solve. I hope it's easy enough, but if not I'll try to give more hints. You will probably need a calendar and an Internet search engine to figure it out.

I will be giving away a prize to the person who guesses it. If there's more than one solver, I'll draw a name out of a hat. The prize will probably be a book, but I may gear the prize toward the person who wins. This is not a requirement, but if you would please write a small post and link back to the article, I would be thrilled. Here we go:

Two girls, they are not sisters
But are related just the same.
There’s a generation between them,
And they share a similar name.

Two special events will happen
In which both girls will be blessed.
They’ll celebrate God’s gift of life,
One on the day of rest.

Tis not the Ides of March
Nor April, May, or June.
When this special occasion
Will happen upon us soon.

But add one to the day of Caesar
And half the date is revealed.
Still need another hint?
When did you first get behind the wheel?

The season of the equinox
When Autumn approaches soon,
This is the month; you're almost there.
But, don’t forget there’s two.

The original gal came first you see.
Then was joined by the latter.
One day past Mexican Independence,
And we had a whole new matter.

What two girls am I speaking of?
What events?
And what are the dates of the events?

If you can't figure it out, I'll give you a hint! And EMAIL me your answer at nutritionshawna@yahoo.com.

ABC Poem

I found a creative idea from Slouching Mom. I do enjoy writing poetry and haven't had an inspirational poetry writing moment in awhile, so this was a challenging way to get me started again. Here is my ABC poem:

Anxiously becoming called,
Dallying, even forbearing,
Gradually, humbly I just kindle.

Laboring, my natural,
ongoing perception
quietly, readily stills.

Time’s unwasted verily
wanting Your zeal.

Yes, I know it may not make sense to you. I did have the aid of dictionary.com to find the "right" words because every word begins with the next letter in the alphabet.

Basically, it describes how I've been feeling about "my calling" to write. In plain English it says, I was anxious to feel God's calling on my life for my writing to be used by Him. Then, I started to doubt, feeling like the calling may have perhaps been just a burden instead since who knows if that's what He really wants me to do. I feel like I'm waiting and trying to listen to God (being quiet and still). And like most of my other poems, there's a hopeful or inspiring ending. Time seeking after God's truth is never wasted. I hope it makes a bit more since.

***After Beef read my poem he told me I had left a few letters out. I added them in but couldn't seem to find a good word for "X," yet.

Blog Talkers

Tell us something significant (either a memory, something learned from that time period, a person who made an impact on you, an event, etc) about your teenage years.
I have decided to share a couple of poems written when I was seventeen. Both are written to a high school boyfriend whom I considered a close friend. I felt alone and confused but knew I needed someone to trust. I had never trusted anyone with my true feelings before because I believed I didn't need to and that no one wanted me to. This was a huge part of the reason why I was on the brink of depression in the first poem and smack dab in the middle of it in the second one. I really latched on to this person or in other words was very co-dependent. I had to learn how to trust others with my feelings even though it was very hard.

Look into my eyes dear friend
And see right into my soul
All my deep, dark burning desires
Hidden by a show.

See my pain, my anger, and my fear
See my agony and despair
Locked up in a crazy world
With no key to let you near.

All my thoughts lurk just behind the bars.
I can’t see out.
You can’t see in
To my masquerading scars.

Pleasure is my agony.
Pain is what you gained.
It seems you cannot know me
Through my world I call insane.

But in the utter darkness,
Separate and alone,
Your world becomes my world,
Desolate and unknown.

If true love seeks to find us
Together we will stand
On the edge of madness
Forever hand in hand.

*******************************
Happiness comes into the day
As the sun rises
But never lasts the whole day through.
As night sets in
The despair comes again
Taking over my mind and soul.
The smile lasts on
But can anyone see
What’s really inside of me?
I say I’m happy
Because I don’t want to tell
How the world is seen through me.
No one cares
No one wants to listen
Except maybe you.
But can I trust you
To not look down on me
Because I’ve never felt this way before?
I’ve never needed someone so much
Or had to talk about my feelings true.
I’m sorry for the pain.
I’m sorry you did not gain
As much from me
As I from you.
I want to listen.
I want to care.
I don’t want you to carry my heart’s despair.
Please take time
Take all my time.
It’s there waiting for you.

Cheesy Romantic Poems

I'm in the mood for a little laughter. Here's one of my silly poems for Beef! I love you, Honey!

Matt's Love Poem

My Beefy Pot is so sweet.
He takes me out to eat.
He fixes picnic lunches
And gives me flower bunches.
He puts air in my tires
And builds me marshmallow fires.
He takes me on long walks
And listens when I talk.
He laughs at my cheesy jokes
And tickles me with sharp pokes.
He rents me girly movies
And kisses me ‘til I’m woozy.
He chases me in the house
And kills our sneaky mouse.
He throws me on the bed
And rubs me toes to head.
He likes it when I laugh
And when I take his brownie half.
He rubs my back just right
And says sorry when we fight.
He loses poker with a smile
And still forgives me when I’m hostile.
He takes long naps on Sunday
And goes to work on Monday.
He buys me diamond rings
And romantic songs he sings.
He whispers in my ear
And cares for me sincere.
He’ll love me ‘til I’m old
And in his arms he’ll hold
Me ‘til we part goodbye
And meet again in the sky.

Justified in His Sight

This poem is a testiment to God's love breaking through my chains of despair and lies about my self worth written in Break These Chains on my poerty blog. Sometimes, I do resort back to those lies, but I'm trusting that God will continue to make a way for me to see the truth. He loves and adores me and has made me justified. Like the book the Search for Significance says being justified is not just being forgiven, it's being made righteous and worthy of being in the presence of God. Jesus accomplished that as He died upon the cross for my sins. He took my sin as I took His righteousness and became blameless. God does not see my sin when He looks at me. He sees the righteousness Jesus has bestowed upon me. Righteousness as written in the American Heritage Dictionary is "morally upright; without guilt or sin." What a wonderful way to be viewed by God!

Justified in His Sight
God knows me intimately,
More than anyone else.
He is not deceived by my façade.
The one I created for myself.

He sees me through eyes of purity.
He sees me standing alone
With no covering of imperfection.
He knows me as His own.

He pulled me from the darkness
Helpless as a lamb.
He saved my very essence
From the hopeless Hell of man.

I have been made righteous.
I wear a robe of spotless white.
I carry my Father’s seal.
I am justified in His sight.

I know what Christ has accomplished.
His truth has set me free.
I will walk among the angels
In Christ’s home of victory.

But, I’m not in heaven yet.
There is a truth to be made known
To all those who seek Him
And want Him for their own.

Christ died upon the cross
He bore the sin of all.
He took what was my punishment
And freed me from the Fall.

He has come to give me life
And give it more abundantly.
He sees me as I am
And loves me just as He created me.
