Christmas Day 2007

Scamp was so excited to find a brand new doll house when she got up on Christmas morning. The first thing she had to do was put the daddy in the bathroom on the potty! She really loved all her presents from everyone and wanted them all taken out of the boxes and put together as soon as she saw them.

Beef got me a digital frame, Hairspray the movie, a new toaster oven (boy, it's huge!), a Crush t-shirt and a gold necklace. I got him the Bourne trilogy HD, a lap board for his computer, a Guitar Hero II t-shirt, and a dark brown dress shirt.

Meme and Papa's house was next on the list. One of the best presents Meme got was a framed picture of her grandkids with their handprints on the back. The best toy, however, was the airplane Matt's brother, Josh, got him. They were outside for hours trying to figure out how to make it fly and finally did on top of Papa's Hill. Christmas Eve 2007

We always go to my grandma's house (my mom's mom) for Christmas Eve lunch and stay until early evening. Santa Scamp came back for another year, but this time decided to play the Mrs. Clause role (hence the outfit). She didn't try to open any of Bubby's presents this time though. One of the best parts was when Grandma was opening up her gifts. My Uncle Jeff told her they had bought her a snake since she wouldn't tell them what she wanted for Christmas. She barely stuck her hand in the box when my cousin Kyle hissed, and Grandma jumped and hollered. She was so scared to finish opening her gift, but then it started ringing. My family had went in together and bought her a cell phone. She was really excited. Click on the pictures to enlarge.

We went to my parent's house that evening. The highlight was the two little cars my parent's got for Scamp and Bubby. You drive them by moving the handles back and forth. We all took turns. I think my dad was really happy with his new bicycle, too.

Sickness Prevails

Scamp is sick again! We think it may be food poisoning this time. Poor thing. She's in the bed with her daddy right now. I hope she's able to sleep. Hopefully, this won't last much longer. We may have to take her to the doctor tomorrow.

We Survived the Weekend

We survived the weekend. We had a good time visiting with my great aunts and uncles on Saturday, but we didn't have any pictures made this year. Scamp was over her virus by then but Sunday, Beef woke up with it. He even had to work while he was feeling sick. Poor baby. Our friend Jeff flew over for a couple of days, but we couldn't see him but for a few minutes. We didn't want to pass the virus along.

Beef is feeling much better now. He will have to finish up his work this week, then he has Christmas through New Year's off since he saved some vacation days. We still aren't through shopping, but we are slowly making up for lost shopping days last week.

Scamp got her first haircut today (outside of her Meme and her Nana trimming her bangs). She did so well. I didn't even think to bring the camera. She sat by herself and was so still when she needed to be. We got home, and Beef said, "Her hair still looks the same." It does. Maybe next time we'll let the hairdresser spice things up.

I'm off to finish some books. I'm so thankful to have some down time.

My Favorite Ornaments 2007

I have seen others sharing their favorite Christmas ornaments, most recently Lauren at Baseballs and Balls, and thought it was a great idea. I love all the ornaments that trim my tree, but I narrowed it down to a few of my most favorites. It would be hard for me to part with any of them because my mom has given me most of them secondly followed by my sister. My mom started a tradition when my sister and I were younger by giving us a Hallmark ornament every year. Then, when we married and moved out, she gave us our ornaments to take with us. She continues the tradition by giving the grandchildren one (or two or three) every Christmas.

This is one of my most recent gifts given to me last year at Christmas. Someone knew how much I love chocolate!
This was for Scamp's first Christmas. It looks kind of like a baby mobile only with tiny Christmas ornaments attached.
This one is in the shape of a Bible, and you open it to display the message -- the reason why we celebrate, the birth of our Lord, Jesus.
I have several Barbie ornaments, and I love Biker Barbie.
I love this one in red. They typically have a Holiday Barbie ornament every year. I have four total.
These are a couple I got for Beef our first Christmas. I didn't want to leave him out.
This one is for Our First Home. The year is 2002 (just in case you couldn't tell).
The list could go on and on. We didn't even put all the ornaments on the tree this year because we were afraid Scamp would have too much fun pulling them off. We were right! Only one ornament has been broken, but it wasn't one of my Hallmark ones. Now, the bottom part of the tree is bare since the ornaments have been moved to higher ground for fear of the tidal wave known as Scamp! Merry Christmas!

Sick Baby

Scamp ended up having a virus. She seemed to really feel better after we got home from the mall, but she woke up throwing up that same night. She also had a fever, which has finally come down today. Hopefully, Beef and I won't get sick as well.

Beef couldn't find anything wrong with the car. He thinks I may have just ran over something instead of it falling out from underneath the car.

I did manage to get most of the presents I bought at our last shopping trip wrapped and put under the tree. I spent an hour shopping (not including driving) while Scamp was sleeping on Monday. I don't think I've ever been that productive before because I went to four different stores (including Wal Mart!) and got home with several more presents.

Our first family Christmas party is this Saturday. It's my maternal grandmother's side. Lately, they have been having it at the church I grew up at, which has started a whole new tradition for my family. We take family pictures in front of church's Christmas decorations. I'm sure I'll share some of those.

Out Christmas Shopping

Dear Readers (the few of you who are left anyway since I'm so way behind on blog reading),

How are you? I've been out Christmas shopping. The lines and crowds have been killer on the weekends, so this week all my plans and free time will be devoted to shopping and wrapping. I started out with Scamp at my side, but a toddler smack dab in the middle of the terrible two's makes one sticky mess out of shopping, literally. Although her temper wasn't as bad today as the puke I had to clean off her and the stroller that she expelled in the middle of Belk. Luckily, I did have all the shopping done in that store that I needed. Thanks to all those sweet other patrons that looked at us with pity and concern. Sometimes, a mom needs that.

I managed to get her sparkling clean minus the stroller which will need some major attention with a soapy sponge and her outfit that is still in a garbage bag in the car. She even got to see Santa and have a sucker that replaced all the eggs and Kix she ate for breakfast this morning. The whole ordeal wore her out because she conked out in the car on the way home. But, not even a minute later, I heard the tiny clanking of metal amidst the Chipmunks Christmas Don't Be Late rendition on the CD player. Strange how I really thought it was part of the song until a nice lady honking and motioning for me to roll my window down while we're sitting at the red light explained "something" fell out from underneath my car. That "something" is still yet to be identified even though hubby's probably underneath the car himself as I write.

Well, Scamp's safely in her bed, snuggled underneath her blanket with a sticky face and hair that will have to wait to be attended to until after she wakes up. Sometimes, you gotta give in to the no suckers in the car rule. I'll be heading back to the store, not to Belk mind you. Hopefully, a few days away will help the other nice employees and one very determined custodian forget my face.

Daddy's Baby

I've been trying for ever to get Scamp to say "Mama's Baby" when I ask her "Who's baby are you?" She has yet to answer me even though I know she can say it.

Tonight I was tickling her and saying "Mama's Baby" over and over. Her response: "Daddy's Baby!" I couldn't believe it. Well...I could but still. I'm the Mama.

Daddy earned a smack on the arm for that to go along with his satisfied smirk.

The Seventies Are Back

Or is that the 60s? I couldn't resist getting this little outfit for Scamp for her birthday. This is the first time she's worn it, and she had to have sassy hair to match. Isn't she a doll?

Great Minds Think Alike...Right?

I was telling my friend Greyson what I got Beef for our anniversary, Heroes 1st Season on HD DVD. Then I mentioned, "I hope we don't get each other the same gift."

Ha!! We had a good laugh. Then, we decided to sell the unopened copy.

We started our day off with the Christmas parade in Beef's hometown, then we dropped Scamp off with my parents for the evening. We had a great dinner at a new restaurant on the square to celebrate. The best part for me, of course, was dessert...an Irish Cream Cake. Mmm. Then we went Christmas shopping for Scamp followed by watching some of our new Heroes DVDs. It wasn't the most lavish anniversary we've ever had, but it was a really great one. I love you, Baby!!
